Background:

This is the first appearance of Vincent's "stacked" design style. It was inspired in part by the stacked homes in Cinque Terre,  Italy.  The design is meant to represent several pieces of furniture stacked on top of one another.  Based on an early one-of-a-kind design built in 2003, Stacked Cabinet No.1 was first released to the line in 2005. It started turning heads from its inception and has made appearances in numerous design blogs and magazines. Stacked No.1 won a Niche Award in 2007.  One it's 10 year anniversary, Vincent redesigned Stacked No.1 into it's current form.

From a design perspective, Stacked Cabinet No.1 is meant to create contrast between the curved form and the straight forms.  The three different colors are meant to highlight the individual identity of the three sections. The pieces are all based on traditional furniture design, so it's a bit of a surprise and delight when people see the piece.  It's familiar pieces of furniture, but the high kicking curve of the third piece creates life and joy in the piece.
